Chemical:
Yohimbine Hydrochloride 5mg in a yellow, film-coated elliptical tablet embossed Prowess P on both sides. (Yohimbine is generally recognised as a safe and effective aphrodisiac with a long established usage).
Uses:
In the management of cases of failure of sexual desire and functioning. Indicated in the treatment of diminished libido and impaired sexual function especially psycogenic, secondary male erectile impotence. Treatment to be continued until the required therapeutic response is obtained. Treatment should be commenced with 1 capsule three times daily increasing to 2 capsules three times daily after two or three weeks if necessary. Female patients should interrupt treatment for one week every two months. Patients should be advised to refrain from sexual intercourse during the first 12 to 14 days of treatment, but should be encouraged to practise sensate focus. A satisfactory therapeutic response is usually achieved after three weeks, although in some cases an earlier improvement has been noted.
Contra-indications, Warnings etc:
Plain Prowess is contra-indicated in cases of inflammatory disease of the urogenital tract and in cases of known or suspected prosthetic or mammary cancer, hypercalciuria, hypercalcaemia, nephritic syndrome, ischaemic heart disease or untreated congestive heart failure, or in pregnancy. Plain Prowess is also contra-indicated in cases of glaucoma, extrapyramidal disorders and hyperexcitable states.
Precautions and Warnings:
Patients, especially the elderly with the following conditions, should be monitored, latent or overt cardiac failure, renal or hepatic dysfunction, hypertension, epilepsy or migraine (or a history of these conditions), since androgens may occasionally induce sodium or water retention. A decrease in protein bound iodine (PBI) may occur, but this has no clinical significance.
In treating males, stimulation to the point of increasing nervous, mental and physical activities beyond the patient's capacity should be avoided.
Drug Interactions:
Concurrent administration of liver enzyme inducing drugs such as Rifampicin, Barbiturates, Carbamazepine, Dichloralphenazone, Phenylbutazone, Phenytoin and Primidone may decrease the effect of Plain Prowess.
Pharmaceutical Precautions:
Plain Prowess should be stored in the original pack, preferably at a cool temperature (below 25 degrees Celsius) and in dry conditions. Protect from light.

Keep this and all other medicines safely out of the reach of children.
